MOMENT FOR PRAYER

Prayer is a most important aspect of our faith. Prayer is of course a very personal thing. There are no right and wrongs ways of going about it - so long as You are praying to our God and Father or to the Lord Jesus or to the Holy Spirit - one God, three persons.

Our congregation's prayer diary, (issued 2 or 3 times a year), is an aid to prayer - mainly to help us in our prayers for others and to keep us from being too self-centred in our prayers. Here are some we would like to share with you.

Spring 2011

We thank you Lord for being our light and our guide forever and please forgive us when we forget to say thank you for answered prayer.

Compassionate One, give us the grace to always show compassion and let us reflect on Your calm presence in our daily lives.

Make us true channels of Your peace. As we leave winter behind and enter into spring we pray for a spring in our step and a lift in our spirits.

We have so many reasons to thank you Lord, but sometimes we forget as we go about our busy lives. Please forgive us and keep us in Your continued love. Amen.
Please pray for the countries and people of the world. For a world where all count equally and equity means equality.

For those whose work is counting others that they will see Christ in every stranger.

For those whose work is caring for those who don't yet count - that they will have courage and compassion.

For those who decree who is to be counted - that they use their power wisely and justly.

For those who are counted as nothing - that they will know they mean everything to our God who loves them indefinitely.
I thank God for you, the God I serve with a clear conscience, just as my ancestors did. Night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. 2nd Timothy 1:3

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself himself will be exalted. Luke 18:14B

Evening and morning and at noon will I pray and cry aloud and he shall hear my voice. Psalm 55:17

The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face to shine upon you; and be gracious unto you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26.
Lord Jesus, you call us to follow in your steps, to suffer if need be, so that others will know of your love. But Lord, we are weak and can only follow if you fill us with your strength. Forgive us Lord, we worry too much. Help us to trust you more, knowing that you will provide all we need. We worship You, amazing creator, for the intricate systems and astonishing beauty of the earth, sea and skies. Please forgive us for the ways we have failed to care for your world and the life upon it. Give us the wisdom and the will to protect our environment properly. Lord you are the ruler of us all, our almighty and eternal Father. Help us to see ourselves in all our weakness and to see you in all your power. We want to forget ourselves and remember others.
Sovereign Lord we praise your Holy name and thank you are with your people of Whitburn South as we wait for a new minister. May we wait patiently expectantly and with thankful hearts for the right person to be appointed at the right time and may Your Name be glorified at Whitburn South now and forever. Amen. Give us the strength to do the things we cannot do and to be the things that we cannot be, through Jesus Christ your Son, who is the pattern of our lives and the Saviour of our souls. Amen
